The Charlottesville Skate Park, located within McIntire Park East, is a thoughtful design within a visible and challenging area.
McIntire Skate Park
Designing a wheel-friendly park in Charlottesville
The skate park facilities traverse a grade differential of over 30 feet while being positioned around a mature grove of deciduous trees without negatively impacting the critical root zones.
Line and Grade provided full engineering services for the project and worked in association with a professional skateboarder employed by Stantec.
The design included provisions to manage stormwater effectively within the development footprint as well as vertical design of the skate park and adjacent lands. On-site improvements were organized to allow the construction, including material storage, to work within the site and access constraints.
